Huge congratulations to our Speed Unlimited athletes who competed at the USATF Junior Olympic (JO) Track & Field Regional Championships in Spokane Valley, WA July 6th – 9th. This year, of the 61 Speed Unlimited athletes qualified and registered to compete at the Regionals meet, we had 58 athletes qualify for the JO National Championships to be held in Lawrence, Kansas July 24th -30th in a total of 50 individual events and 11 relay teams. During the weekend we had 16 regional championships, 42 Personal Records (PRs) and 8 new club records set! Overall, our team did exceptionally well in all of the events contested including the sprints (100m, 200m, 400m); mid/distance (800m, 1500m, 3k); field events (javelin, discus, shot put, long jump, high jump); hurdles (100m HH & 400m IH); multi-event (pentathlon) and relays (4×100, 4×400, 4×800) against a stiff competitive field in hot conditions (from 93° to 102°). Speed Unlimited was THE strongest club in the region (USATF Region 13) this year – qualifying the most athletes to Nationals and bringing home the most regional championship medals! This is our best year yet, and we are all so super proud of our team! Cheers!
